World Autism Acceptance Week
This week (28th March – 3rd April, 2022) is World Autism Acceptance Week. Autism is a term that practically everyone has heard of these days. However, far too few people are aware of what it’s like to be autistic and how challenging life may be.
Autism is a chronic developmental disorder that impacts a person’s communication & interaction with others. It can affect people in a variety of ways, and it frequently coexists with other mental health, behavior, emotional, and sensory issues.
Autism affects one out of every 100 persons, & there are around 700,000 autistic adults & children in the United Kingdom.
It is important to raise awareness & understand the symptoms of autism. If we work together, we can build a society that benefits autistic children and young people. All autistic persons should be able to live the life they want with the right support in place.
