    October Breast Cancer Awareness Month

    October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a great time to promote awareness on breast cancer & to encourage those who have been affected by it. Breast cancer is currently the second-most common cancer diagnosed in women in the UK & living with breast cancer has never been easy. Many breakthroughs in breast cancer treatment have been made as a result of increased awareness and research.

    Most women can reduce their risk of developing the disease in a few ways. Among them are the following;

    • Maintaining a healthy weight
    • Maintaining a healthy level of physical activity
    • Limiting alcohol consumption
    • Having a balanced diet
    • Breastfeeding
    • Refraining from smoking cigarettes

    Patients have a better chance of successful treatment if they are diagnosed early. There are a few signs to keep an eye out for that could indicate breast cancer. A lump in the breast is usually the first thing a woman notices, it’s crucial to check your breasts at home once a month. Changes in breast size, shape, or appearance, bloody flow from the nipple, retraction or indentation of the nipple area, redness on the breast area, etc are all indicators of breast cancer. If you experience any of these signs, you should consult a doctor immediately.
