Winter survival tips for Healthcare Workers: Severn Angels Nurses

Whilst caring for others, healthcare workers sometimes forget about themselves. In these cold winter months, they might struggle with some challenges. Below we are sharing a few survival tips on how to keep safe & warm during this dead of winter.

    Stay Warm in Uniform:

Although you may not be allowed to wear long sleeves at work, you can wear thermals underneath your tunic to keep warm. To prevent the spread of winter viruses among patients, it is critical to dress in a way that corresponds to infection control guidelines.

    Regular Exercise:

Your body may be vulnerable to a variety of bacterial and viral diseases during the cold winter months. Regular exercise will give you the strength to fight off these illnesses by boosting your immune system.

    Maintain a healthy diet:

A healthy diet will help you in boosting your immune system, stay warm, and fight the winter blues. Due to cold weather, it’s very easy to forget the importance of daily water intake which can lead to dehydration. So it’s necessary to take water properly to stay hydrated.

Stay safe while traveling to work:

Before traveling, it is crucial to remove all the ice & snow from your car. Ensure that your windows, mirrors, and lights are clear and visible.

With temperatures dropping, the roads may become icy and dangerous. It is important to store some emergency essentials in your car which should include antifreeze, an ice scraper, extra screen wash, a blanket or sleeping bag to keep yourself warm, some snacks, and a torch/flashlight. So that if unfortunately, you get stuck on the road, this winter survival kit will help you.
